A final, glorious sail brought us to San Juan Bay. With our homecoming flags flying (sailors fly flags of all the places they’ve been upon return to a home port), we sailed past dramatic, centuries old walls of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and rounded the point at Castillo San Cristóbal to enter the harbor that we’ll now call home. Our old friends – Jen and John of Corpse Pounder – were at our slip, waiting to catch our lines. We’re so damn lucky to have them as neighbors!
This weekend we’re focused on cleaning absolutely everything and returning the boat to a more livable state for a dock. After that, I’m not sure. One step at a time, I guess – I’ve never been one who settles easily into change.
If I disappear for a week while we get acclimated do not despair, we’ll be back with updates shortly!
Wow – I’m sort of sorry you’re not going to be doing New England now, I was looking forward to reading along with you! But you have to make the right decisions for you, and no doubt you’ve done that. Looking forward to seeing what your next step is!
I know! It’s disappointing for us too. And it’s very likely that we’ll do it in the future, just not this season.
I know that berth! Been there a couple of times. I like that you can walk to town for shopping, etc. and maybe later over to the San Juan Hilton or Condado for a pina colada or mojito and some mofungo.
If you come to Cape Cod, stop in to visit the Averiseras. Hot showers.
Thanks Norm! We hope to meet you one day.
