One year ago today, Brian and I sailed out of New York Harbor before dawn, leaving the lights of the city we used to call home in our wake.
We did something that few people dare to do – we dropped off the grid and removed ourselves from the rat race. In this uncertain world, we decided to get out there and experience something beautiful, challenging, and new.
Reflecting on the year we’ve had, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
Flipping through the photos that we’ve taken along the way, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. Please enjoy this photo collection of our first year out – 3,500 nautical miles of under our keel, from New York City to Grenada, West Indies.
Glade to see all the Pictures of you trip.10-7-16,1:12pm .

@Peter – Thanks for following us!
What a fabulous adventure! I have loved following your blog and look forward to each new one!
@Anne Crisafulli – Thanks for following us! We hope that the coming year will be full of equally good stories!
Wow – a year already! So proud of your guys.
@Hannah – Thanks! We miss you… and I owe you an email.
Beware! I sailed away in June of 1960 and I claim I never sailed back. OK, I did in the physical sense, never in the emotional sense. I hope it happens to you. Life at sea is beautiful and the sailing family is remarkably fine. After a while you can step ashore anywhere and meet someone from another port or someone who knows a friend from another port. Pretty remarkable. Norm/Cape Cod
@Norman Martin – It’s hard to imagine returning to life as we used to know it. Sailing will always be a part of our lives, no matter what the coming year brings.
