The Baths on Virgin Gorda are a network of natural pools formed by giant boulders rising up from the sea. They are a can’t-miss spot when visiting the BVI, so we woke up at the crack of dawn to raise anchor and beat the charter boat crowds.
We were handsomely rewarded for our efforts (and I sailed pre-coffee – that’s saying something!) by being the first people there. We swam in to the beach from Nightingale Tune carrying nothing but our GoPro, and had the place to ourselves to climb boulders and wade through peaceful pools, gawking at the stone structures that surrounded us like cathedrals.
My only regret? I wish I’d figured out a way to get the big camera in with us instead. It was an unbelievable experience, dramatic and peaceful nature at its best, and these shots only scratch the surface. But trust me, you feel things when you are there.
